New Zealand

There are a number of informative websites that look at tobacco control issues in New Zealand.
Following are a number of useful websites that highlight the harms of second-hand smoke exposure. The sites also suggest actions that can be followed to make various environments, such as the home and car, smokefree.
• The US Environmental
Protection Agency website describes what second-hand smoke is,
its associated health effects and shows you how to reduce exposure
to second-hand smoke in various settings.
•
The American Cancer Society website outlines what second-hand
smoke is, why it is a health problem, and the settings in which
second-hand smoke is a health issue, such as the home, workplace
and public places.
• The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA) website is
an online toolkit that provides people with ideas for reducing exposure
to second-hand smoke.
• The Smokefree
Zone site (Australian) was established for the New South Wales
second-hand smoke campaign. It contains information in several languages
(including Chinese and Vietnamese) and also contains specific Aboriginal
Health pages with the main focus of the site on making homes and
cars smokefree zones for children.
• This site contains a paper outlining the Ontario
Medical Association’s position on second-hand smoke. It
highlights the health effects caused by second-hand smoke among
both adults and children, along with issues surrounding second-hand
smoke exposure in the workplace.
